The most horrific and unbelievable Passchendaele
It began on July 31, 1917 – November 10, 1917(lasted 103 days).
The german was taken over passchendaele ridge
they willing to give it up.
Also known as the Third Battle of Ypres it was a campaign for the first world war.
The battle saw an estimated 325,000 Allied and 260,000 German casualties. By 1917 armies had tried to modernise to reduce the casualty rate.
On the 6th November, the Canadians launched their third attack on the ridge.
Passchendaele also is known for its terrible weather conditions.
If it rains the brave men and the animals would mostly drowned is the deadly swamps of mud.
The Britain and its allies fought the germans leaving more than 325,000 fatality.
Some estimates claim 90,000 British and commonwealth bodies were never identified and 42,000 never recovered from the battle.
The battle commence with huge bombardment of 5 million shells fired from 3,000 guns.
No matter what happen the soldiers keep on fighting for their lives just to win the battle.
Its
remembered as one of the bloodiest offensives of the First World War.
Around half of a million is wounded and killed. however 90,000 have never been identified and 42,000 bodies have never been recovered.
Commander of the Canada named Arthur Currie was fearing of them losing without disastrous of lives.
the battle of Passchendaele is remembered as a symbol of the horrors of WW1.
